did someone say nipples! Sweet!

NP Knife...i would never ask you to come work, but you could stop by and drink a beer on your way through town if you have time :)

The idea was scab holes, then as long as were down there, build a simple subframe...the pipe's cheap, so it's just our time...and who cares about that. 1" square we figure will tack in nice, and like you said, cutting 90's will be a lot easier :) The exhaust isn't made yet, so we will have to work that into the equation as we go.

I was just hopeing to see a pic of one done. And hopefully with the rear, and maybe front as part of it. We're not looking to build the fastest car ever, but we want it to go, and handle really well, make it a very fun, tight buggy...if you can't beat em on the straights...gett'm in the corners :)

LOL Jay...Tell me about it...I've welded copper tubing together and that's some hot sh** :P :)

So you're just fabbing that up in conjuction to repairing the rusty floor for extra strength? The nice thing about using 1" square tubing is that at the angle cuts become WAY more managable. Trying to do that with round tubing is just a silly way of giving yourself a headache. At least it was for me when I did my rollcage.
Do you intend to weld the frame directly to the underside of the car? Will it clear your exhaust?
I'll actually be out near Pemberton next weekend. But I'm out there backpacking so I don't think I'll be up for any "work" afterwards. Plus I hate it when I have to weld laying down while a hot molten shower burns my neck and sometimes my nipples. hahaha...

So weekend at Jan's pemberton place...Jay? Justin? I'll bring the beer... lol

The idea is that where we have rust is non load bearing area's...however Jan Dotes and I thought it might be nice to use some square 1" metal and create a subframe below the main area of the car and tie in the back and front end, give it a really solid track. Nothing to crazy, just some support. Jay I like your idea, that was along the idea we thought, but what points do we want to rigid together, we don't want to create problems, just make it a bit tighter :)

Anyway, any photo's Justin? maybe we'll come down to crawl under and take a peak.

Holy smokes! And people said I like to overkill projects. LOL...
Shouldn't be too difficult seeing how there doesn't appear to be any bending involved. Nothing a little geometry and a tube notcher can't solve. I'm no expert but it looks like it might be easiest to rack everything together, test fit the mock-up frame, finish welding, then weld to the underside of the car.

What are you thinking for... rwd mid engine? :D
You can tie the front and rear subframes together(like Twyla's car), but a whole subframe would not be required unless you were building a tube chassis car :)

Anyone have experience with this? for a first gen 1200 non-cvcc?

This is only an example of what I am thinking...
