weird exhaust ports... only 2?

There are 2 different EKs 79-81and 82-83. If yours is a 82, from the drive side of the engine, the 1st port on your head is exhaust?

1st EK valve line up is IEEIIEEI and the 2nd is EIEIIEIE.

Good luck!
Well I looked at the back side of my engine from the drivers side and noticed some strange things...

My first port is an intake port then followed by an exhaust port. Now I only noticed 2 exhaust port total, not 4. I see 4 intake ports but only 2 exhaust ports? Am I going mad?

If this is the first EK style motor, what is the displacement and HP? 1.8L? 1.6L? 70 HP? :honda

Sorry Blue I missed the 2 exhaust port heads which came out in 79-81. This was the standard, 2 exhaust ports, except for the California spec EK, those had the 4 exhaust ports.

The non CVCC heads were 4 exhaust ports.

So this is a CVCC motor then and it will take a 1982 electronic distributor right? It had one in there before I broke it so I guess I will buy another one.

I will need to rewire some of this since I noticed my resistor system is still hooked up, any handy DIY guides on how to rewire it to use the full potential of the ignition systems since I have no points at all?

I rewired my 78 wagon to run a 2nd gen Hitachi electronic distributor. So to answer your question, yes it should be able to be used on your engine.

I posted a how- to in one of Kurt's post in the Power Train section.

I have a working electronic distributor if your interested?

Thanks bud, I will look around in that section and see if I can find it.

As for your distributor, let me figure out the wiring first then I will ask you how much you want for it.

My 1975 CVCC Wagon project...

Unread post by Blue-Civic-Hybrid »

Well, just a slight update on my tiny project. I went on an extended vacation and I got distracted badly. The one good part is my wagon is currently tucked in my tiny 1 car garage and I kinda picked up another project on the way...

And my newest distraction, a 1985 Honda VF500F... I could not pass up the deal I got on this... :186

I still have no idea how I'm gonna explain this to my significant other....

"...It has a back seat..." No, didn't work for me either.... Cool bike, I always liked those. Maybe the right deal will come my ways, but not so far!

Oh trust me, that back seat will be removed/covered up with a box to mimic a cafe racer style seat. And yes it will be boxy!
