yeah its a remote oil filter
Motor is an Eb1 with an EB2 head with alot of porting done
but im in the process of putting an eb3 head onto an eb2 block = lower compression
thats about all the work that the motor will get
the piece of brass is the throttle linkage, the braket moves when the accelrator cable is attached.

Oh yeah, and what's that little brass rod coming off this side of the carb? It looks like it goes to some kind of bracket, but I have no idea what it is. I truly envy your car
By Jarcaf (Jarcaf) (66.241.66.51) on Monday, April 18, 2005 - 12:39 pm: |
Is that a remote oil filter? How much have you done for the internals on that guy? Looks really slick man

That's awesome.....I'm kinda not up to date on this car...what's it got in it?
By Angus Button (Stu88y) (202.7.88.184) on Thursday, April 14, 2005 - 09:20 pm: |
It is a flame thrower kit from www.customflamethrowers.com.au
The rims at the back were changed because my car was stearing all over the place and I wondered if it was the tyres at the back causing this. It was NOT. The wheel alignment was way out. 12.7@110mph backing off was still not too bad.
What is the command for adding pictures again ???
Talk to you all soon.
Angus

Is that a flamethrower kit, a home-brew setup, or just a gnarly backfire?
By Tor (63.146.72.65) on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 - 01:35 pm: |
Why do you have different rims on the back in the night pictures?
By Justin (199.60.112.10) on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 - 12:54 pm: |
Sweet.. gotta love the flame thrower..

Hi Everyone,
Well I raced at Western Sydney International Dragway on 9-4-05 in the Compak Attack meeting. They weighed my car and put me in the "Front Runner" class. I was against 9 and 10 second front wheel drives. It was a dial your own and I won the event.
Best time of 12.7@110mph on street tyres and I backed off as my car was going all over the place. Turns out I had 5 degrees of toe in. Bloody scary.
What do you all think of this photo ?

1st pass 12.9@112mph
2nd pass 12.9@112mph
3rd pass 12.8@112mph
4th pass 13.6@101mph almost hit the wall. Oil on track
5th pass 12.7@110mph backing off as I was heading to the wall again.
Turns out I had 5 degrees of toe in and the car was very scary at speed. All fixed now.
Hope to race again at street meet on 20-04-05.
See ya

http://www.carburetion.com/weber/weber.htm is the cheapest place I found for the weber kit. colt cams will do your cam for you, you just have to send yours to them and they will re-grind it.

Will keep you posted.

From the old post:
"A ZC or even a B16A box with the bellhousing reconfigured for an EB series is the way to go. B16A boxes can handle in excess of 400hp without too much complaint. Quaife style LSDs are available and they can be picked up with cable clutches. Other than the bellhousing the other attachement points are pretty similar"
How much power could a ZC box handle? Would the B16 box need custom driveshafts?

Nothing finer than racing these old civics, and watching others respond with shock and mild frustration when we win.
Way to go Angus!

Hope to do low 12's with LSD and Slicks. Have the power just not the grip at the moment. Still I was very happy with a 12.628 on street lagal tyres.

Nice work Angus!!!!
Apparently it was a datsun 1600 also known as a 510 in the US. With an SR20T fairly well modified.
What Angus didn't say in that email is that he ran 8 sub 13sec passes. including a number a 12.7, 12.8s and 12.9s
By lazy (165.228.57.19) on Monday, April 19, 2004 - 03:05 am: |
what sort of car was in the other lane?
By Angus Button (Stu88y) (203.12.97.94) on Monday, April 19, 2004 - 02:10 am: |
Well I just raced at WSID again today and did a 12.628@113mph on street tyres. The best thing was the fact I was looking after my GN 5 speed gearbox and not launching it hard. It also only has an open diff at the moment as well.
I think this now puts me as the fastest 1st Generation Civic in the world.
Also the Australian FWD record on street tyres is 12.749@114.6mph which I now beat. Yee haa.
Can't wait for the stronger gearbox and then I will use my slicks.
See ya
Angus

Felipe, here's my take as to what the VIN means...
SB = Civic 1200 (Civic CVCC/1500 would be SG)
C = 3-door 4-speed
5 = 5th year of 1200 production (1977)
xxxxx = Chassis number
As for the engine,
EB = 1200
2 = 2nd generation
3 = 3rd year of the EB-2 (1977 as well)
The rest of the numbers are probably a sequential build number, or might denote the transmission or emissions level of the engine. So I'd say yes, yours is a 1977 model. I don't really see any difference between the brake reservoirs of yours or Glens car though.
By Jonny (24.68.208.246) on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 - 03:26 pm: |
An EB-2 engine should mean that its a 77 i think 76's came with eb2's as well but cant remember but anything newer has eb3 and anything earliar has eb1
By felipe casanova (200.74.71.51) on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 - 03:11 pm: |
and on the firewall also says SBC-504xxxx
By felipe casanova (200.74.71.51) on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 - 12:11 pm: |
well i find a plate that is close to the radiator....and it says:
Chassis number: SBC-504xxxxx
Engine Number: Eb-2 3530xxxx
im gonna see if something appears on the firewall..by the way i live in chile so i guess that my car must be most alike with the australian and japan civics
By CVCC x 2 (65.93.196.251) on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 - 10:25 am: |
Try the drivers door. There should be a VIN plate riveted near the top above the door latch beside the weatherstrip. Civics sold on this side of the world only had the serial number stamped into the firewall, no compliance plate.
By felipe casanova (216.72.170.66) on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 - 08:23 am: |
mmmm nop...there is a plate where appears the engine number and chassis nothing more....and i can barelky read it...let me try to figure it out what say and i will post it...
By Adrian (Evocivic) (165.228.11.61) on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 11:11 pm: |
Isn't there a plate in the engine bay with the model, year, chassis number and engine number stamped on it?
By felipe casanova (200.74.71.51) on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 10:59 pm: |
compliance plate? what is that explain better please
By Adrian (Evocivic) (165.228.11.61) on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 05:57 pm: |
What is the date on your compliance plate?
By felipe casanova (200.74.71.51) on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 05:50 pm: |
yes but you never told me if this means that my civic is not a 77 or not? because that`s my main doubt
