The only filter that I ever saw do that was on a Civic that was running alcohol. a change to metal filter took care of all those issues.

Is it possible that the ethanol in todays fuels caused this?

I think it is possible, I've seen some pretty wild things with the new gas. If it had a high Ethanol count that is where I would start looking.

Just refinished a grimy old valve cover to replace the one on my car.
Not sure why the black paint detailing the letters didn't hold up better.
Hopefully, better luck with the refinished one!

I'm happy with how the refinished valve cover turned out.
Now I need to repaint the alternator fin shield and mounting bracket.

I bought a clear reproduction upper timing belt cover from a test run Jack Bower commissioned and made by Bill Colford.
The cover needs to be finely sanded before I put it on.
I think it'll look pretty cool on there.
